Pathology Open Day

A group of pupils from year 10 had the opportunity to attend the Pathology Open day at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Pupils had a chance to visit different laboratories in the hospital, including Histology, where they got to see a real human brain, Virology, where they heard gruesome sto-ries about insects found in people’s bod-ies, and Phlebotomy, where they were able to practice taking blood. Pupils said they really enjoyed the day and found it interesting to learn about the dif-ferent areas of a hospital that they didn’t know existed and the types of careers they could follow.​​

Operation Christmas Child

​A huge thank you to everyone for your hard work and support with Operation Christmas Child. 110 shoeboxes were collected last week and are now on their way to children in Eastern Europe to help bring a little festive joy.

Rhondda Food Bank

​A big thank you to all who helped with supporting our recent collection for Rhonnda Food Bank almost 500Kg of food was donated to this excellent charity that supports our local community.

Careers Guidance Interviews

We are pleased to inform you of the additional support being offered by RCT Education and Employment Team in relation to Careers Guidance interviews for our Year 11 students.  Please see Mrs McCarthy for further information.

STEM Ambassador

​We are pleased to announce that PCCS has become a STEM Ambassador Hub and received a certificate of recognition.

Mission Discovery

​A number of pupils with a strong interest in STEM attended the Mission Discovery programme at King's College London. The five pupils involved were Matt Humphreys, Wei Tou Chiu, Lewis Hubbard, Brandon Regan and William Lloyd-Brennan. This provided the students with an opportunity to work with NASA Astronauts, rocket scientists and NASA personnel for a week. ​

Techniquest / Dawnus Mentoring

​We are proud to have been selected by Techniquest and Dawnus to take part in their student mentoring programme. 10 students from Year 9 have been offered tailored mentoring and career guidance to give them a greater understanding of the construction and engineering industries and the career paths that they offer.
