I am delighted to have been appointed as Pembroke School's new Headteacher and to welcome you to Pembroke School's website. I qualified as a teacher in 1994 and have worked in four different London schools, each with its own personality, in its own context. Latterly, I have been a Headteacher at a school in South London. Originally from Newport in South Wales, I attended University in London and have recently relocated to Pembrokeshire with my young family. We are all really pleased to be here and I am very grateful for the warm welcome we have already received.
I am looking forward to working with everyone who works and learns here to ensure that Pembroke School is set on a journey of working towards excellence in all that it does. I believe that our school can be a school that does its very best for everyone and values everything they have to offer and the contribution that they make.
Teaching and Learning is at the heart of what we do. Education is so very important and these are very exciting times for everybody at Pembroke School. Towards the end of this year we will move into our new school and this will be a new school in many different contexts, not just a wonderful new building.
We have much to do and achieve in the forthcoming academic year and for Year 11,12 and 13 pupils examination outcomes are crucial to future success. Success and hard work are also important for pupils in Key Stage Three and those just starting Year 10.
If you wish to contact me please do so through my PA , Elissa Locke by telephoning or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is a new traffic system in operation from the start of term. Access from Pembroke Road will be via the Western entrance (above the sports centre). Only buses, taxis and works vehicles will be using the old entrance. Pedestrian access will be made available along the original access road as before.
Members of our School Council recently took part in a three and a half hour litter pick around the coastal path adjacent to the town's Castle. Pupils from years 7 to 10 got to work and managed to clear 12 bags full of litter. They will now make this a regular activity and want to focus on different areas within the locality.
Congratulations to our 6th form pupil Abbie Williams who recently competed for Team GB at the European Youth Triathlon Championships in Lithuania. She claimed 5th place in the individual event and won a gold medal in the mixed team relay!
